Our Founder Melissa Kahl is passionate about teaching Latin dance, and inspiring others to join our amazing community!

Travelling to other countries, Melissa immersed herself in the local culture and dances. This included several trips to Puerto Rico, visiting her partner Julio’s family in Mexico, a friend’s wedding in the Dominican Republic, along with other beautiful destinations. She also studied Latin dance technique at dance retreats, festivals, and congresses in Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.

Melissa’s dance journey started with Ballet & Tap dancing, as a young girl. That led to National Baton Twirling Competition, while still in elementary school. Her dance crew won a school talent show, with her choreography to pop song “Girl You Know It’s True” in 6th grade. She embraced hip hop dancing in junior high & high school. While living in Dallas, Texas, she started a 12 year love affair with Zumba. This was her “gate-way drug” to Latin dancing!
